Ella, Fairy Milkmaid commish

A commission for jkrolak of his character Ella, the Swiss Miss fairy milkmaid. Her wings are those of an Austrian Red butterfly. This piece certainly presented its own challenges (color matching without clashing, as well as the usual risks of copying a complex butterfly wing design) but I had fun. I'm a sucker for dirndl-like dresses!

9x12, prismacolor colored pencils on Strathmore "drawing" paper. I thought I'd try out the texture of it, and while I don't like it quite as much as the smooth bristol (my favorite), the tooth of it makes for a fun coloring experience! It definitely picks up colored pencil and seems to soak it up a little bit more than the bristol, which is both a good and bad thing.
