Rogue and Gambit

Hopefully my love of these characters (and their relationship) comes through in this picture. I can't think of anything particularly interesting to say that I didn't already say in the sketch, but here we go. Rogue and Gambit.

Coloring this was a bit of a challenge. I like that the wild costumes make me use brighter colors than I normally would (although I managed to completely avoid having to use the blue and magenta of Gambit's costume), and I wanted to make the background purple because the shadows are purplish, but my friend Sharky suggested I use orange instead, and I wound up compromising.

Here's hoping it turned out okay. I'm not really good with color choices.

I always feel like I lose a little from the original sketch whenever I copy and color a picture, but that's inevitable unless someone comes up with a non-digital way for me to color on top of the original lines without losing them.

Prismacolor pencils on smooth bristol board. I didn't feel like braving the vellum this time.
