Oh my goodness. I have a deviantArt account. I kind of forgot about it >.>

I've actually been doing a whole lot of art lately, but it's all been either for my solo flute VGM covers or for my new band, The Returners. (I'm the band leader and the flute player and the singer.) I also enrolled in an MFA program for creative writing. Music and writing claim most of my creative energy these days. It's pretty all-consuming, but I love it. We played PAX South a few weeks ago and we're going to Florida for a "mini-tour" this coming weekend. And I've been working on a novel for school and I should probably draw characters from it, too. In my copious free time.

Anyway, hello! Are you all still out there? Do you still read this? Should I put up some more artwork?

... can we change our names on dA? Because I don't really go by Selie anymore. Haven't for years...

It turns out I only have so much creative energy to go around. And with my writing, I've had a couple stories accepted for publication and I'm writing/editing/revising/submitting others... I'm even working on a novel right now. Writing takes a lot of time and energy and it's my priority.

And with my music, well, we played at MAGFest and we're playing at Nerdapalooza this summer and also working on new material for our next album (hopefully done by the end of the year!) ... so that's pretty time-consuming.

I'm sure it's telling that the only art I've posted in the past more-than-six-months has to do with the music as much as anything else. I've barely sketched anything, either, though I've tried to do some scribbles of characters from my stories. I really don't have enough creative energy to draw much these days. And it felt like my art was stagnating for so long that I was seriously disheartened. Art is just not my priority.

I've finally accepted that I just need to have somebody pose for me all the time if I want a picture to turn out, rather than drawing everything from my imagination. So I'll go with that. And maybe that means I'll actually sketch a couple of things after this.

Yes, the aforementioned flood of art is about to happen. In fact, as you read this, you will probably be able to look at a bunch of art that is new AT THE SAME TIME. How crazy is that?

Also, I have a short story coming out in Cicada Magazine next month. It is my first published short story and I'm so excited! Yay! In honor of that, I'm trying to make myself draw some characters from that story (and the bigger story it is a part of). But also I just drew a bunch of completely ridiculous images of people in love and stuff like that...

I promise. I haven't drawn a lot lately, but I have drawn some. My art style has changed, too! Sometime in the next couple of weeks I will scan and upload things here, for those of you who still watch me. <3 There will even be a tiny bit of fanart, probably.

I completely forgot to update, but I'll be at A-kon with my friend Sharky, sharing a booth in the artist alley. Come look us up! Support us if you want to. Or just say hi. Either way! It should be exciting. I'm SO not prepared...
